Homestead request forms are mailed to homeowners who have recently purchased or refinanced a home.
NOTE: When a home is refinanced, some lenders require an Abandonment of Homestead to be filed prior to recording a new loan. This results in the voiding a previously-filed Declaration of Homestead.
Upon receipt of your request form, we will search, retrieve & verify (from the offices of the County Recorder and County Assessor) the information necessary for completion of your Declaration of Homestead.
Within one business day of receiving your request form, a Declaration of Homestead will be sent to you ready to be notarized—with recording instructions. The County Recorder charges a fee to record your Homestead.
